About the Arava Institute

The Arava Institute for Environmental Studies is the premier teaching and research program in the Middle East, preparing future Arab and Jewish leaders to cooperatively solve the region's enviornmental challenges.

Operating in a region of historic conflict, the Institute brings together students from Israel, Jordan, the Palestinian Authority, and beyond, to study common environmental challenges as a platform not only for advancing sustainability but for developing the trust, respect, and understanding that can serve as a foundation for peace.

This tour will be lead by Institute faculty and staff who are intimately familiar with the trans-boundary environmental issues in the Middle East.  We will also meet with local environmental leaders - some Institute alumni - who partner with the Institute on educational and research projects.
